When can we start rehearsals?
As soon as your Show Application has been acknowledged by FOX PLAYS UK & Europe.
What happens about royalties?
If you charge for admission, the royalties are paid after the show has taken place. You pay either 10% of your ticket sales or £30, whichever is the greater sum. We will send you a sheet to complete for the fees along with your licence confirmation letter, you will need to keep this safe until the time to pay the fees.
What if we don't charge an admission price?
You pay a fixed royalty fee of £30 per performance. You pay this fee at the time you apply for your performance licence.
Do we buy or hire the rehearsal material?
The scripts, piano/vocal scores, backing tapes and CDs are sold. The band parts or orchestrations are hired. If you hire the band parts, you choose how long you wish to have the material and return this music within three weeks of your final performance. If the music is returned on time and in reasonable condition, you receive a refund of 25% of the hire fee less the postage. Overdue, lost or damaged goods incur a penalty - part or all of your deposit.
How much rehearsal material do we need?
There is a minimum number of scripts which you must purchase. The number varies according to the show and is made up of one script for the director and one for each principal. The production notes, lyric sheets and activity sheets are free and are automatically included with your scripts. With musicals, the tapes/CDs and band parts (music for flutes, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, etc) are optional. For plays, the rehearsal material consists of scripts, production notes and activity sheets.
Is there any help for the production team?
Yes. The free production notes for every show cover tips on lighting, scenery, costumes, special effects, props, etc. With musicals the piano/vocal score has detailed notes for the MD and there are free lyric sheets for chorus members. The free activity sheets contain character analysis and activities related to each show. We even supply you a customisable poster to advertise the production! The creator is happy to discuss production issues and he may be contacted via Fox Plays UK or directly at www.foxplays.com
Do we have to acknowledge FOX PLAYS UK & Europe?
Yes. If you produce a programme you must include both the name of the playwright/composer and the words "By arrangement with FOX PLAYS UK & Europe".
Do we have to send you a copy of the programme?
It's not mandatory but we'd love it if you did. Seeing how creative different groups are with their programmes and publicity gives us a buzz, so we'd appreciate a copy for our archive when you send in the royalties.
Can we change the script and score?
Yes if you ask permission first. Major changes are not allowed so if you have doubts, ask before you choose the show.
Can we change the dates and/or location of our production?
Yes of course, but you must advise FOX PLAYS UK & Europe of the new date/s and/or location as soon as possible, and certainly before the first performance.
What do the audio tapes/CDs have on them?
There is a rehearsal version of all the songs with the melody played prominently. There are no vocals. The performance version contains the complete score played with full orchestrations. The tapes and CDs are studio quality.
